The Photo Studio began in the 1930s when Joseph Boel was appointed to take pictures of BYU students for the Banyan each year. In 1965 the Photo Studio became a branch of the Division of Communication Services. In 1970 the Graphic Services was combined with the Photo Studio forming a new department called Instructional Photo/Graphics.
